THE MIJNBOUWKUNDIGE VEREENIGING PRESENTS

Introduction

The Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging was established 132.5 years ago in Delft; to commemorate this, the 12th half-lustrum week will take place in February 2025. Like our previous lustra, the celebration of the half-lustrum will be celebrated with a week full of social and professional events such as a Symposium, AlumNight, and a Gala. The 12th Half-Lustrum Lustrum Committee is excited to announce that the theme of this week will be:

Under Pressure – Reshaping Our Future

This theme alludes to the pressure experienced by all members of society to safeguard our future. Engineers, academics, politicians, and company executives alike are faced with the challenges of the energy transition and rapidly changing global contexts. With its roots in mining engineering, the Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging is seeking to accommodate the new breadth of the Applied Earth Sciences study, and hopes to impart a renewed sense of inspiration, excitement, and curiosity on the future drivers of the energy transition through its forthcoming half-lustrum week. My name is Timo Brands, president of the 12th Half-Lustrum committee. As a young 22 year old I started Applied Earth Sciences with the dream to finish my bachelor’s degree in three years. Due to all the oppurtunities Delft provided, I decided to study an extra year, giving me the opportunity to become president of this amazing committee. I am already proud of the progress everyone has made and I am very excited to see all of you during the 12th Half-Lustrum. Even though we are Under a lot of Pressure, we will reshape our own future and create the best (Half-)Lustrum the MV has ever seen!

My name is Michael van Voorst, secretary of the 12th Half-Lustrum Committee. After four fun years, I completed my BSc AES degree in August. Though I am no longer enrolled as an AES student, my fondness for the MV left me compelled me to join this lovely committee. The process so far has been enjoyable as it has been exciting, and I really look forward to the events we have planned in February!

Hey guys, I am Fionnah and finishing my bachelor’s this fall. After coming back from Vancouver I became treasurer of this fabulous committee. As my time in the mountains has passed, and the Excel sheets have taken over, I am looking forward to the coming months with the half-lustrum being the icing on the cake! Feel free to ask your questions, or share your best Excel tricks!

Symposium

Hello everyone, I am Tanvi Kiran! I am the commissioner of Symposium of the 132.5 Half Lustrum Committee of the MV. I was part of various committees like OmniCo and StuCo throughout my bachelor’s. I am originally from India but I moved around a lot in the country. I love travelling, singing and a good conversation.
The international Symposium organised by SymCo and me will be the event of the year. We are planning on having speakers from various fields and expertise so that the students, staff and alumni learn about new topics in our industry and hopefully come out of it with immense joy and understanding. You will see me around the faculty quite often so come by and say hi and I will start talking about how great the symposium will be. Hope to see you all there.

After being part of the NoCo, VNC, RalCo and even making a Yearbook as a Consul Duo. It is now time for this langstudeerstudent to shine as our Commisioner of Acquisitions. Knowing almost everybody and not being afraid to start a talk with strangers. Hugo Jak is the perfect man for the job. “I win, That’s my job, that’s what I do!”

Events

Monday the 17th of February: The Grand opening. We will begin the 12th Half-Lustrum with a opening and networking event. This will happen on the faculty from 16:00 onwards. At 17:00 the tap will open and all attendees can talk with participating companies and startups.

Tuesday the 18th of February: The international symposium. This entire day will be dedicated to talk about a variety of subjects relating to our field of work. We invite all faculty members from both the GSE and GRS department to learn about inovations happening in the world. The symposum will be held in Delft starting at 9:00. More information will follow.

Wednesday the 19th of February: Company excursions and extended Noorden evening. To get away from Delft, we will head out to several different companies. Attending the excursion is mandatory for all passe-partout holders to be able to join the Extended Noorden evening. If you would like to join one of the excursions, a form will be sent out in January. More information will follow.

Thursday the 20th of February: Open party: releasing pressure. This is still a secret, we will update you as soon as possible.

Vrijdag, 21 Februari: Reünisten diner: Alumnight. Dit diner is bedoeld voor alle reünisten van de Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging. Van 13:25 tot 19:00 is “Het Noorden” geopened. Wilt U een verhaal vertellen tijdens deze borrel, neem dan contact op met het Half-Lustrum comité (lustrum-MV@tudelft.nl). Van 19:00 tot 19:30 is de inloop voor het reünisten diner bij stadsherberg de Mol op de Molslaan 104 te Delft. Hier zal een 6-gangen diner plaatsvinden en wordt het legendarische verhaal van de middeleeuwse mijnbouwer verteld. Deze avond zal eindigen om 23:00, waarna er tot 01:00 een borrel op dezelfde locatie zal worden gehouden. Tickets zijn hieronder beschikbaar, of stuur een mail naar lustrum-MV@tudelft.nl.
Tickets voor de gehele vrijdag bevat een das, het 6-gangen diner, alle drankjes en een klein beetje sponsoring.

Friday the 21st of February: Alumni dinner: Alumnight. This dinner is intended for all alumni of the Mining Association. “Het Noorden” will be open from 13:25 to 19:00. If you would like to tell a story during this gathering, please contact the Half-Lustrum committee (lustrum-MV@tudelft.nl). From 19:00 to 19:30, there will be a reception for the alumni dinner at the city inn “De Mol” on Molslaan 104 in Delft. A 6-course dinner will take place here, and the legendary story of the medieval miner will be told. The evening will end at 23:00, after which drinks will be served at the same location until 01:00. Tickets are available below, or send an email to lustrum-MV@tudelft.nl. Tickets for the entire Friday include a tie, the 6-course dinner, all drinks, and a small amount of sponsorship.

Saturday the 22nd of February: The MV Gala. We will close off the week with the MV Gala at het Koetshuis in Rotterdam. This location is easily accessible by taxi, taxiboat or by car. More information will follow.

Petrogas
