During the second world war, 21 brave men of the Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging were involved in the resistance and lost their lives. In remembrance, their names were engraved in a stained glass window in the old faculty ‘Mijnbouwkunde’, called ‘zij die vielen’. Every year on the 4th of May, the MV can return to this window in honour of remembrance day. Furthermore, a work of art called ‘Soft Layer’ has been placed next to the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences and a book with more insight in the lives of these men was made called ’21 namen, 21 gezichten’.
