IHC Mining – Creating the mining future

KIVI (Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs / Royal Institute of Engineers) is the professional association of engineers in the Netherlands. We are committed to supporting engineers in the execution of their profession and in recognising the value of their work. We help engineers make connections with research, education, society and, of course, with each other. We also help guarantee the quality of education and research, deploy the work and knowledge of engineers in the service of social issues and make the impact of technology on society visible. To this end, we work together with the technical business community, knowledge institutions, higher education, the government and foreign partners.

KIVI’s Mining Department wants to appeal to those who have an affinity with the study “Applied Earth Sciences” (formerly called “Mining Engineering” and “Mining Engineering and Petroleum Extraction”). The department wants to emphasise the breadth of the study and leaves the depth to department-oriented sub-departments of KIVI. KIVI’s Mining Department strives to keep alive the attention for both the history and the future of the study of “Applied Earth Sciences”. It does this in close cooperation with the “Stichting Cultureel Erfgoed Aardwetenschappen” (“Foundation for Cultural Heritage Earth Sciences”) and with the “Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging”.
