On November 1st, a group of 8 students and over 50 alumni visited the musical ‘Het Geluk van Limburg’ in Kerkrade. The musical, starring famous Dutch actor Huub Stapel, was centered around the history of a small mining town in Limburg. We learned about the rise and fall of the mining industry in the Netherlands, and about the good and bad it brought to the inhabitants of Limburg. Many traditions from the history of our association, such as the Glück Auf, were recognizable in the story as well.
Afterwards, we had drinks and dinner at the Wieëtsjaf in the city centre in Kerkrade. It was a wonderful day, made possible by EMD (stichting Erfgeod Mijnbouwkunde Delft) and Kivi.
